Kevin Mitchell has promised to "walk through" Michael Katsidis when the pair stand toe-to-toe at Upton Park on Saturday.

Mitchell, nicknamed "The Dagenham Destroyer", has the chance to make a name for himself by winning the interim WBO lightweight title in London. Katsidis has seen his fair share of wars, famously against Juan Diaz in Las Vegas, and he will be considered the favourite outside of British shores.

However, Mitchell is undefeated in 31 fights as a professional boxer, winning 23 by knockout, and he knows victory would set him up for a crack at the winner of Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz. Katsidis' chin is one of the toughest around, but Mitchell insists the Australian's ability to take shots just makes him easier to hit.

"Katsidis is highly thought of but when I win it will make me a bigger name and I'm ready to step up. This is what I dreamt of as a kid," stated the 25-year-old.

"People will sit up and take notice of me when I beat him because he's a name. Katsidis has fought in Las Vegas and on top bills against some great fighters like Juan Diaz.

"He's lost twice but has always given a good account of himself. He's tough and if I take him out in style it will show what I've got.

"He's strong and is a tough man but that will be his downfall, I'll walk through him.

"He's an aggressive tough guy who will walk forward for 12 rounds but I've got the tools to beat him."
