Usain Bolt fired a warning to his rivals after setting the fastest time of the year in the men's 100 metres in Daegu.

In his first 100m race this season, the World and Olympic champion set a world-leading time of 9.86s to comfortably beat fellow Jamaican Michael Frater by nearly three tenths of a second at the World Challenge event in South Korea.

It was a far from polished display from Bolt, but he recovered from a slow start to enjoy a comfortable victory.

As Bolt gears up for the Diamond League meeting in Shanghai on Sunday, the competition in the men's sprint event is hotting up. American rival Tyson Gay set a new straight line world record of 19.41s in the 200m in Manchester on Sunday, while Asafa Powell, who ran a wind-assisted 9.75s in Doha last week, is confident Bolt can be beaten.
