Pacquiao compromise moves Mayweather fight closer

The much-anticipated bout between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jnr has moved closer after the Filipino relaxed his stance in the fighters' blood-testing dispute.

Negotiations between the camps were halted earlier this year when Pacquiao refused to agree to Mayweather's demands for Olympic-style random drug testing.

However, Pacquiao has offered an olive branch to his potential opponent by moving towards a compromise - he will take a blood test 14 days before the contest.

"14 days is OK with me, as long as [the blood test] isn't done on the day of the fight, and only the right amount of blood will be drawn from me," Pacquiao said.

Seven-weight world champion Pacquiao confirmed earlier this month that he intends to fight one more time before retiring from the sport in order to pursue a political career.
