Olympic champion Christine Ohuruogu has lost out to the returning Nicola Sanders in the bid to run in the 400 metres at the European Team Championships in Norway on June 19-20.

Sanders is yet to compete this season as she continues her comeback from an injury-afflicted 2009, but she has received the nod ahead of Ohuruogu - who must make do with a place in Great Britain's 4x400m relay team.

Jo Pavey comes back into the fold to compete for GB over 5000m for the first time since giving birth to her first child, while long jumper Jade Johnson is another who reappears after a lay-off.

GB's main medal hopes will come from a trio of world champions: Phillips Idowu in the long jump, Dwain Chambers in the 100m and Jenny Meadows in the 800m. Mo Farah, who set a new British road record over 10,000m last month, is another from whom great things are expected.

UKA Head Coach Charles van Commenee is hopeful that the team can better last year's third-place finish. "This is a good solid squad with a blend of proven international performers and younger athletes who will be looking to make a name for themselves in a year of European Competition," he said.

"I am particularly delighted to see Nicola, Jade and Jo returning to the team and the current form of Mo Farah and a number of others means I'm anticipating some excellent performances."
