Mitchell to fight Katsidis in London
Kevin Mitchell will fight Michael Katsidis for the World Boxing Organisation lightweight title in London after his promoter Frank Warren secured the deal.
Warren outbid an Australian promoter to secure the fight which will take place on May 8 and is highly likely to be at either the 02 or Upton Park.
Mitchell is thrilled by the prospect of getting a shot at the world crown and heaped praise on Warren for ensuring the fight will take place in London.
"Frank has done a fantastic job getting me the fight and bringing it to England," Mitchell said. "This is the kind of fight I've dreamed of since I was a kid."
Mitchell is unbeaten in 31 fights but will face a stern examination by Katsidis who has won 26 of 28 bouts and defeated Graham Earl at Wembley three years ago.
