Jodie Williams has the mentality to succeed as a senior on the global stage, according to her idol - the American three-time 200m world champion Allyson Felix.
Williams, known as 'Moneylegs' to her friends, is one of Britain's hottest sprint prospects and is widely regarded as a star in the making, with many tipping her for track glory at the London 2012 Olympics.
She shot to prominence as a young teenager, dominating the junior ranks with alarming ease and racking up 151 race victories in a row over five years. The sprinter, who specialises in the 100m and 200m, is the British youth record holder over 60m, 100m and 200m and the British junior record holder over the two longer distances.
Williams, whose mother and father were both county-level sprinters, achieved a first sprint double at the World Youth Championships in 2010. In Bressanone, Italy, she ran a world-leading time for a youth athlete of 11.39 seconds to claim her first world title in the 100m, before clocking 23.08s to clinch glory in the 200m.
At the 2010 World Junior Championships in Canada, Williams blitzed the field to win gold in the 100m but her phenomenal winning streak came crashing to an end when she had to settle for second in the 200m, finishing behind American rival Stormy Kendrick.
After her exhilarating performances, the clamour for Williams to join the senior ranks grew ever stronger and she served further notice of her potential when she won the 60m indoor title at the UK Trials and Championships in Sheffield in February 2011, cruising home with a personal best time of 7.24s.
In March 2011, on her senior debut in an international event, Williams narrowly missed out on winning a bronze at the European Indoor Championships in Paris, finishing 0.01s out of the medals in the 60m.
With all her focus on London 2012 the young talent concentrated on qualifying for the 100m , but a hamstring injury in the Birmingham trials during the final saw her pull up as her dream of competing in her home Olympics was brought to a cruel end.
Career high:
Accumulating 151 race wins on the bounce over a five-year period.
Career low:
Seeing her unbeaten record fall at the World Junior Championships in Canada. A silver medal in the 200m was the first defeat of her career and it hurt - she was seen crying her eyes out on the track afterwards.
Quotes:
"I think Jodie has great potential. She's young but she can still accomplish a lot of things. She should not let her age get in the way, just go for it. She's excited about the future and just to see what she's done so far has been great, so I think that she's going to have a really bright future and I'm also looking forward to watching it." Allyson Felix
"She is the sort of athlete every country is waiting for." Great Britain boss Charles van Commenee
