Jessica Ennis: Leading medal hope

Jessica Ennis has revealed she will not take up the opportunity to train in the Olympic Stadium ahead of next year's Games in London.

Ennis is one of Britain's best chances of gold in athletics, with the 25-year-old the favourite for the heptathlon, but she is not tempted by getting familiar with the surroundings.

"I don't want to be in and out of the stadium, training there and doing photo shoots beforehand," she said. "I want it to be new. I'm quite happy to stay away because I want that fresh feeling when I step out to compete.

"If it was anywhere else in the world I probably wouldn't have had many opportunities to go and visit, so it's nice to be unique and new."

Ennis suffered heartbreak this year when beaten into second by Tatyana Chernova at the World Championships and she is driven on to exact revenge.

She said: "The disappointment in Daegu definitely motivates me for London 2012, the real need to get that gold medal back and the fact that all the other heptathletes around the world are training really hard."

Ennis will compete sparingly in 2012. Her only outdoor heptathlon before Lomdon will be in Gotzis, Austria at the end of May.
