Jenny Meadows has told Great Britain's selectors that she will launch an immediate appeal if she is not selected for London 2012.

Meadows, who won a bronze medal in the 800 metres at the 2009 World Championships, has been dogged by injury of late, and unable to race competitively this year.

Her latest setback came when a persistent Achilles problem forced her to pull out of the European Championships in Helsinki this week.

However, despite her lack of action, Meadows remains hopeful that her successes down the years will convince the selectors to give her the nod.

"Of course I'd appeal. You've got to do everything. It's an Olympic Games - it's not a hobby, it's not a profession, it's my life," Meadows said. "You pray for a miracle but the only thing in your control is how hard to work each day. I have a strong case.

"I know the criteria [for selection] off by heart. I have plenty of medals from former years and more 'A' standards than the others, so if I can step on the track I know I'll do well."
