Jenny Meadows has performed a U-turn by rejecting the chance to appeal the decision to omit her from Great Britain's London 2012 squad just days after saying she would.

Meadows missed out on the final cut for Team GB's Olympic track and field team when it was announced on Tuesday, with Lynsey Sharp the only women's 800m runner named.

An Achilles injury has forced the World Championships bronze medallist onto the sidelines and she has been unable to race competitively so far this year. Despite her fitness issues, Meadows had indicated before the selection she would launch an appeal if she was overlooked.

However, having not made the 77-strong team, Meadows - who also won 800m bronze at the European Championships in 2010 - will not appeal her snub.

"She [Sharp] must be so pleased and proud. Her and her team will all be celebrating, and I wouldn't want to take that away from an athlete," Meadows told Sky Sports News.

"If I was to appeal and be successful, I'd have to do it at the expense of her, and I wouldn't appreciate somebody doing that to me.

"I wish her the best of luck, and obviously I will train hard and I owe it to myself to get something out of the rest of the year."
