Donald set for Bath switch?

All Blacks fly-half Stephen Donald has reportedly agreed a move to Aviva Premiership side Bath.

According to BBC Sport, the 27-year-old Chiefs playmaker has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal and will link up with his new club in November following this year's Rugby World Cup.

Donald, who won the last of his 22 Test caps against Wales in November, is one of those players vying to understudy first choice All Blacks fly-half Dan Carter and is expected to feature in this year's Tri-Nations battle and the sport's showpiece event. However, by moving overseas at the end of the year he will sacrifice his international career.

Bath have been linked with Carter, former England international Danny Cipriani and Springboks star Frans Steyn in recent weeks as they look to fill the void left by South African Butch James who left The Rec at the end of the season to join the Lions in Johannesburg.

The Chiefs are currently languishing at the bottom of the New Zealand Super Rugby conference and are out of the running for the play-offs. Bath finished fifth in last season's Premiership and thus missed out on the play-offs and were this week drawn alongside Leinster, Glasgow and Montpellier in next season's Heineken Cup.
