Leicester Tigers' delight following a thrilling 41-32 victory over London Irish on Sunday looks likely to be soured by a citing for scrum-half Ben Youngs.

The Tigers lost Youngs with a minor shin injury midway through the second half at the Madejski Stadium, but the England scrum-half may have further problems as he could be cited for what appeared to be a deliberate kneeing of London Irish No.8 Jamie Gibson.

"It is not ideal, but whether it is a citable offence is not for me to decide," Leicester's director of rugby Richard Cockerill told the Daily Telegraph after seeing his side move into third in the Premiership. "We'll see what happens. Discipline cost us across the board today but we're trying to play a fast game and people will target Ben because he's exceptionally good. You hold a bloke back, that's cynical. Somebody will have a look at it, everybody will make enough fuss of it, and we'll see what comes of it."

Irish coach Toby Booth described Young's actions as "unnecessary" while TV replays also appeared to show Youngs throwing two punches at Gibson moments later.

The newspaper reports that dropping a knee into an opponent carries a potential ban of between three to 12 weeks, while the sanction for punching ranges from two to eight weeks with any such punishment sure to hamper the Tigers' end of season run-in that continues against Worcester on Friday night.
