The Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) has committed to having two teams in the RaboDirect PRO12 next season.

In February, Treviso announced they would be leaving the PRO12 sparking fears the Italians would be pulling out altogether. But the PRO12 has confirmed an agreement has been reached to have two Italian teams in the cross border competition next season.

It is not yet clear exactly which teams they will be but whoever they are, the teams will go into next season's competition as an "equal partner". A statement from the PRO12, added: "Under the new agreement, FIR will ensure the participation of two Italian teams for the next four years in the competition which is currently known as the RaboDirect PRO12.

"The agreement between FIR, SRU, WRU and IRFU will be officially signed in due course."
