Red Bull has 'no shortage of choice' - Horner

Christian Horner says Red Bull will have "no shortage of choice" over a replacement for Mark Webber next year.

After the fallout between Webber and Sebastian Vettel at the Malaysian Grand Prix, there are question marks over whether Webber will sign a new deal with the team at the end of this season. In an interview with the official Formula One website, Horner was asked where he was looking for a potential replacement, and said the team would be focussed on ensuring it has the best two drivers possible.

"Our objectives are very simple: we want the best two drivers in our cars," Horner said. "If they come from Toro Rosso, fantastic as they develop nicely. But we always push to have the best two drivers available.

"There is no shortage of choice … we've never been short of choice."

However, Horner also said next year's driver line-up is not an area Red Bull is exploring at this stage of the season.

"It is much too early thinking about drivers for next year. Sebastian is clear - and everything else will fall into place towards the end of the summer. There is no pre-conception."

Horner also said that Vettel would not have an influential voice in the decision on who his team-mate is next year

"He is going to do the best job for himself. And to say, 'this one, yes' and, 'this one, no' was never Sebastian's style, to dictate, 'I must have this or that'. He is a sporting guy and has never pressured the team into doing things for his own benefit."
