Red Bull to run da Costa and Sainz Jr
- Teams:
- Red Bull
Red Bull has confirmed its driver line-up for the Silverstone Young Driver Test next month, running Antonio Felix da Costa and Carlos Sainz Jr.
The test takes place from July 17-19 - between the German and Hungarian grands prix - with all of the teams scheduled to run apart from Mercedes which was banned from the test as part of its punishment from the FIA International Tribunal.
Da Costa will be taking part in his second Young Driver Test having also done so for Red Bull last year in Abu Dhabi. He ran for two days on that occasion and told ESPN at the time that it was a good experience.
"It was good, it's always a good experience and great pleasure to drive for a world championship winning team - and hopefully car - but lots going on so I think it was a good day for the team and also for me," he said. "I barely jumped out of the car, there were masses of things going on which is good, it means the team is still pushing and moving forward."
Da Costa will again run on the opening two days. He's currently competing in Formula Renault 3.5 and also fulfilled the role of Red Bull and Toro Rosso reserve driver at the Chinese and Canadian grands prix this year.
Sainz Jr is currently taking part in his first GP3 season having impressed in F3 last year, and he will run on the final day at Silverstone.
