Sebastian Vettel says there is likely to be more expectation on Daniel Ricciardo coming to Red Bull than when he joined the team.

Both drivers have gained experience with Toro Rosso before making the step up to Red Bull, but when Vettel made the move in 2009 the team was yet to win a race. Now, with Ricciardo replacing Mark Webber at the four-time constructors' champions, Vettel says the situation may lead to more pressure on his new team-mate next season.

"It's a great chance, obviously, for Daniel," Vettel said. "In some ways it's the same situation I was facing in 2009, but the team has had a lot of success since then so expectations might be a little bit higher. But at the end of the day I think it's a great message that you get the chance to step up. He's still very young and obviously has been part of the Red Bull family for a long time so I am looking forward to next year."

With Jenson Button saying the 2014 car is "tough" to drive in the simulator due to the amount of torque from the new engines, Vettel believes he will learn the most about how to drive the new car during testing.

"Surely the most important is the stuff that we do on the track. The cars will be different, the engine will be different, so in terms of developing the engine there's very little I can do now. The fact that you get feedback all the time means we are trying certain things for next year already and generally we try to take all the information we got over the last couple of years in to next year's car as well."
