Horner voices double points doubts

Christian Horner has admitted he fears the awarding of double points for the final race of the 2014 season could devalue the rest of the season.

The FIA announced in December that it would be introducing a number of changes for this coming season, with the most radical being that the final race in Abu Dhabi will count for double points in both the drivers' and constructors' championships.

The move was instigated in an attempt to increase the probability of the title race going down to the final round of the season in the wake of four consecutive championships for Sebastian Vettel. However, Horner now thinks the move could be to the detriment of the preceding 18 races this year.

"It can either work for or against you," Horner is quoted as saying by Bloomberg. "Is it right to put so much predominance on one race? Does it undervalue what you've done in the rest of the year? I think arguably yes it does. We need to think very carefully about it."

Horner added: "It's not our fault or responsibility if the competition hasn't been prevalent in the last few races."
