McLaren is pursuing legal action following Red Bull's announcement it has appointed Dan Fallows as head of aerodynamics.

Red Bull made the announcement on Wednesday morning that Fallows would be replacing Peter Prodromou, who has been placed on gardening leave with a move to McLaren imminent,. But it appears Fallows also signed a deal with McLaren earlier this year, and racing director Eric Boullier confirmed the team is pursuing the matter.

"Dan Fallows has a legally binding contract with McLaren, and the matter is now in the hands of our lawyers," said Boullier, reading out an official McLaren statement.

Fallows previously worked in Red Bull's aerodynamic department, and for a time worked as Team Leader (Aerodynamics) before leaving the team for a short time last year. Prodromou joined Red Bull from McLaren in 2006 and has been a key part of the team's success in his former role. He has been lured back to Woking, but he will not join McLaren until next season as Red Bull has refused to grant him an early release from his contract.
