Mark Webber took to the streets of London in an F1 car on Friday morning, just five days after his massive accident at the European Grand Prix in Valencia.

Webber was shooting a promotional movie for the Red Bull team at Parliament Square and drove past bemused bystanders up to the gates of the Palace of Westminster. He hit the streets at 6.00am so as to avoid the commuter rush and his pit crew was on hand to perform a 3.2 second tyre change with Big Ben as a backdrop.

"Obviously, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity - it's not every day you get to see the sights of London from an F1 car," said Webber. "This year has once again thrown up some interesting rule changes so any practice the team can get [changing tyres] is going to make a difference, no matter where it is."

Red Bull manager Jonathan Wheatley said the event would likely be a one off.

"As a team, we practice and perform pit stops in all sorts of conditions around the world but this has been a really unique experience, one I imagine won't be repeated," he said. "We've only got a week to go before Silverstone so what better way to practice under pressure than outside the Houses of Parliament."
