Sebastian Vettel says he will not change his driving style as he seeks to keep his title hopes alive.

Despite widespread criticism of his driving following a spate of accidents caused by him, Vettel said he will not take a more cautious approach as a result.

"Racing is not a coffee break," Vettel told Speedweek. "I go to the grid to win if it is possible. But you have to attack, you can't just wait for it to happen."

Although Vettel took full responsibility for his impetuous Spa Francorchamps manoeuvre that knocked Jenson Button out of the race, he admitted that he will still try to attack if an overtaking opportunity presents itself in Monza.

"I always try to attack, so in that way nothing is going to change. You always have your head switched on and everyone weighs up the risks. I know that both myself and my car are fast enough to win."

Team-mate Mark Webber hinted after the Belgian Grand Prix that Red Bull would soon have to consider backing his title charge at the expense of his team-mate. But Vettel added that it was far too early for such a decision to be made.

"For a driver this makes no sense - you don't give up trying to win the championship until it's mathematically impossible," Vettel told Associated Press. "For the team it makes no sense to favour one if that means penalising the other because you need both drivers scoring maximum points to win the constructors' championship. With two drivers close in the championship it is too dangerous to choose."
