Kimi Raikkonen's manager has confirmed he contacted Renault, but insists it was only to sound out opportunities for next year.
Earlier this week Autosport.com revealed Raikkonen and his management had been in touch with Renault after the Belgian Grand Prix and that team boss Eric Boullier was weighing up his options. However, Raikkonen's manager and fellow F3 team owner Steve Robertson said the 2007 world champion was just assessing the situation and not making a concrete offer.
"It's true, I spoke with Boullier," Steve Robertson told Turun Sanomat. "We want to explore all the possible options for next year. Kimi and I asked Renault what is the situation.
"There are all sorts of rumours. I've even heard that Kimi could go to NASCAR, but that is definitely not an option."
Raikkonen is competing in the World Rally Championship this year for the Red Bull-backed Citroen team. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, at the same time his lucrative Ferrari payoff, reportedly worth $25 million, comes to an end.
