Briatore will learn his fate on January 5
Former Renault team principal Flavio Briatore will have to wait until January 5 next year to find out if a French court will overturn his life ban from Formula One. He is also seeking up to US$1.5 million compensation
Briatore was banned by the FIA for his role in a race-fixing scandal at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.
The thrust of his case is the FIA was not entitled to impose an indefinite punishment and also that he was not given a fair hearing as a result of his poor relationship with the then FIA president, Max Mosley.
"My client only aims to be able to do what he wants and to recover his freedom," his lawyer explained before the hearing in Paris. "He is calm and determined ... when he decided to leave Renault, he took moral responsibility for the mistake, but he doesn't want to be penalised for something he is not responsible for."
