Pirelli test doesn't tell us anything - Kubica

Robert Kubica has cautioned against drawing any conclusions about performance next year based on the Pirelli tyre test.

The Renault driver finished fifth in the standings after the second test - with Fernando Alonso coming out on top - but he does not expect the timings to shed any light on performance in 2011.

"It was the same when we swapped from Michelins to Bridgestones, you have to adapt the car set-up and just get an idea about the requirement of the tyre," Kubica told Autosport.

"You don't have to go deeply into the set-up [in this test] due to the fact that I think the tyres will change quite a lot for next year. There is no point to go so deep into the balance or set-up here as next year the cars will be different and we might have completely different track conditions. It's just to get the basic idea of the new tyres."

Kubica echoed the sentiments of his fellow drivers by admitting that the tyres have a tendency to show signs of wear. "There is no concern about quality. I think we can say that there will be some concerns about wear, but I assume that the tyres will change from now to the beginning of the season," he said.
