Lopez enjoys 'buzz' around team
Lotus Renault owner Gerard Lopez is excited that the recent driver announcements have created "a real buzz" around the team.
Kimi Raikkonen was announced as one of the team's drivers for 2012 last week, before Romain Grosjean was confirmed as his team-mate. After Renault endured a disappointing campaign in 2011, falling well off the pace after a strong start, Lopez said that the refreshed driver line-up will help the team start to move forward and become more competitive.
"Only last week I reiterated that the team is at the start of a brand new cycle," Lopez said. "Announcing Romain as our race driver alongside Kimi is great news and will help us achieve our aims of getting back to the very top. The announcements we made today and last week are exciting ones for our team and there is a real buzz surrounding us now."
The announcement of Grosjean leaves Vitaly Petrov and Bruno Senna without seats for 2012, and while Senna was out of contract, Petrov had a year left to run with the team. The only real vacancy on the grid for either driver remains at Williams, although the future of Tonio Liuzzi at HRT also remains uncertain.
