Saracens chief executive Ed Griffiths has strongly indicated that new signing Gavin Henson will make his debut in the Aviva Premiership clash with London Wasps at Wembley on Boxing Day.

Henson joined Sarries in October, after being granted an early release from his contract with the Ospreys. However, the former British & Irish Lions centre has yet to make an appearance for his new employers because of his outstanding commitment to the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing show.

Griffiths, though, believes that there is every chance that Henson will make his long-awaited Premiership bow in the high-profile clash with Wasps at the home of English football.

"If you're looking at it, the Wembley match looks like a grand stage for what could be a grand occasion," he said.

"Obviously, selection of the team is very much up to the coaches, but it's funny how things seem to work out. Maybe Gavin Henson's Saracens debut could take place on the grandest stage in English sport at Wembley Stadium."

Henson has not played a competitive game of rugby since April of last year through a combination of injury and personal problems. However, Griffiths is in no doubt that the 28-year-old Welshman is capable of rediscovering his very best form with Saracens.

"Gavin hadn't played competitive rugby for over a year, so he was always going to take some training to get back to fitness," he said.

"But he's looking exceptional in training. The coaches are delighted with his progress over the last few weeks. And it won't be long before we see him on the field in a Saracens shirt."
