Russian GP tickets set to go on sale at end of May

Tickets for the inaugural Russian Grand Prix will go on sale on May 30, with a total of 45,000 available.

The race is set to take place on October 12 in Sochi on a circuit based around the village for the Winter Olympic Games held earlier this year.

There will be 8,000 tickets for the main grandstand, more than 7,000 tickets for the general admission area at the Bolshoi Ice Dome and 23,000 tickets for temporary grandstands located near the Olympic venues. More than 3,000 tickets for VIP lounges and 5,000 Paddock Club tickets will also be on sale.

The cheapest general admission tickets will go on sale for 5,000 rubles ($145) for all three days.

Sergey Vorobyev, deputy general director of OJSC, the company in charge of the Russian GP, said: "During the pre-order period, we have received more than 30 000 requests, and the demand is expected to be high. Russia made a long journey to host a national Formula One grand prix and now that there are just a few months left till the long-awaited event, I am confident that 2014 Formula One Russian Grand Prix will become the magnificent show that will make you come back in 2015."
