Sergey Sirotkin says he will test a 2011 Sauber this month as part of his preparations for a race seat in 2014.

Sauber will run Sirotkin next year - provided he acquires a superlicence - as part of its deal with a number of Russian partners. While continuing his World Series by Renault championship, Sirotkin revealed that he will also be running in a two-year-old car before his first public appearance driving for the team at the end of September.

"We are planning to do some tests with a 2011 car, then we're going to do a demonstration run in Sochi on 27 September," Sirotkin said. "Then we'll do a fitness programme and all kinds of preparation to be ready at the right time; I try to speak a lot to the engineers, try to see all the technical staff to know as much as possible. I think everything is going well and we have time for that."

With Sauber not having a simulator for him to test in, Sirotkin also said he would be trying to use another team's simulator as part of his preparations.

"We are planning to because Sauber doesn't have it's own simulator. I don't know the concrete dates but we are planning to do this."

Sirotkin added that he was not paying attention to concerns over his age and experience, saying that results would be the best way to ensure it's not an issue.

"I try to not look at what people are saying about me, I just try to do my job well. If I do it right then all the press around it will be positive so I try to concentrate on my job; the rest is just people talking and nothing more for me."
