Perez targets a championship challenge in next two years
Sergio Perez is hoping to drive for a winning team and fight for the championship in the next two or three years.
Perez currently drives for Sauber and stunned the paddock when he scored a second place finish at the Malaysian Grand Prix last weekend. Since then speculation has been mounting that Perez will take Felipe Massa's seat at Ferrari, but the Mexican is planning to bide his time before moving to a team higher up the grid.
"In the future my goal is to be in a big team and to be fighting for victories," he told NDTV. "The most important thing is having a car that gives me the chance to win races.
"I believe that in two or three years I will be fighting for the world championship,"
His drive in the wet at Sepang has led some to compare him to Ayrton Senna, but Perez insists is not getting carried away.
"It makes me proud that people compare me to someone like Senna, but I've still got a lot to do in my career to receive that kind of praise," Perez said.
