Sergio Perez has said he would be happy to remain at Sauber next year as the deadline for his decision looms in the next few weeks.

Perez is in his second season at Sauber and impressive performances in Malaysia and Canada earlier this year have seen him mentioned as a possible replacement for Felipe Massa at Ferrari. But speaking to the press at Spa-Francorchamps on Thursday, he said he is in no rush to leave his current team.

"Sauber is a great team and doing a fantastic job," Perez said. "When I go to the factory and see the people motivated every day, I don't see a reason why I would want to leave. I'm happy here and every day I'm more comfortable. I think the team can build a good car for next year, so as I said, I don't see a reason to step away from it."

Perez said he would have to make a final decision soon but that he is more concerned about scoring good results at the next few races.

"Of course it is getting closer to when I have to make a decision, but I haven't made one yet," he added. "It's still a bit early but it has to be made quite soon in the next weeks. I'm not really worried about it, I'm in a good position and I'm just thinking about the second half of the season, which is the most important for me."
