Peter Sauber has backed Sergio Perez's move to McLaren and says he will not be rushing the decision to announce his 2013 driver line-up.

Perez was announced as Lewis Hamilton's replacement at McLaren on Friday morning, with Hamilton moving to Mercedes from the start of next season. Sauber said that he appreciated the lure of driving for McLaren and hopes to complete a successful end to the current season with Perez before announcing his driver line-up for next season.

"Sergio has been given the opportunity to drive for McLaren, one of the most successful teams in the history of Formula One," Sauber said in a statement. "We wish him all the best for this move.

"Before he leaves, there are still six races to come in which we will give Sergio our utmost support with the aim of gaining as many points as possible. As to our drivers for 2013, we will announce them in due course."

Sauber has yet to confirm either of its drivers for next season, with both Kamui Kobayashi and Perez's contracts running until the end of 2012.
