Tim Stimpson enjoyed a varied and highly successful club career, although he made a less forceful impact on the international stage.
During his time with Leicester Tigers he was instrumental in securing two Heineken Cups, kicking a vital late conversion in the final against Stade Francais in 2001and a 60m penalty to defeat Llanelli in the 2002 semi-final.
Stimpson then played for Perpignan after securing a release from his Tigers contract in 2003, but failed to play for the French side. He returned to England with Leeds Tykes in 2004.
During an international career that ran from 1996-2002 Stimpson won 20 England caps and was included in the tour squad for the 1997 British and Irish Lions series in South Africa, winning a Test cap as a replacement in the final Test.
