Toulouse coach Guy Noves has calmed fears that scrum-half Byron Kelleher will miss the start of the Top 14 after withdrawing from training with pain in his jaw.

The former All Black, 33, fractured his jaw in the Barbarians' 29-23 win over Ireland at Thomond Park on June 4 and is now set for further tests.

Toulouse, beaten semi-finalists in last season's Top 14, begin their campaign against Agen, recently promoted from Pro D2, on August 13.

"He cracked his jaw playing for the Barbarians against Ireland and we don't want to take any risks," Noves told AFP. "It is an injury that we have to keep a close eye on but it shouldn't affect his availability for the opening match."

Toulouse's title rivals, Perpignan, have injury worries of their own, with lock Olivier Olibeau joining fly-half Nicolas Laharrague on the treatment table for the opening months of the season. The second-rower is set for surgery on a knee injury and will miss two to three months of action.
