The Chiefs have bolstered their loose-forward stocks for next year's Super Rugby campaign with the signing of Counties Manukau's Fritz Lee.

The 22-year-old back-rower, a former New Zealand Sevens international, has impressed sufficiently for Counties in this season's ITM Cup to win a two-year deal with the Chiefs, who are delighted to have secured his signature following interest from the Blues.

"We've been delighted with his growth over the last two years with Counties-Manukau," Chiefs coach Ian Foster said. "He has previously been involved with our wider training programme and to see him progress and have a good campaign, with Counties-Manukau, is fantastic for us.

"A sign of his form was the attention the Blues put on him as they were willing to add to their already large loose-forward stocks."
