Biarritz quarantined over mumps scare

The entire Biarritz first-team squad is in quarantine until Thursday after an outbreak of mumps. Fly-half Julien Peyrelongue missed their Amlin Challenge Cup victory over Gloucester on Thursday night after contracting the mumps. Benoit Guyot is also thought to have been infected. The squad therefore have been put in quarantine until April 11 with their Top 14 clash with Perpignan pushed back to April 14. French Rugby League (LNR) said in a statement: "Following Biarritz's statement that they have two cases of the mumps, the league's medical commission has, as a precautionary measure, banned the club's players and coaches from meeting up from 5 April to 11 April, inclusive." Less than a month ago fellow Top 14 side Toulouse were forced to cancel all training for a week after a mumps scare.. © ESPN Sports Media Ltd.
