Judd Trump booked his place in the final of the Shanghai Masters with a brilliant 6-4 win over Mark Williams.

Trump knocked in seven half-centuries, but had to fend off a spirited fightback from Williams to close out the match.

The contest looked over when Trump rolled in an 82 to take a 5-1 lead. He put together a run of 53 in the next, but broke down with the match in his grasp.

Williams stepped to the table and a flawless 66 saw him keep the match alive and a fabulous long blue in the next saw the Welshman cut the gap to 5-3.

A scrappy ninth went Williams' way, but Trump shook off concerns with a couple of decent breaks to book his place in the final.

Trump will face John Higgins in the final after the Scot claimed an impressive 6-3 win over Shaun Murphy.

Murphy took the opening frame and led 3-2 at one stage, but Higgins rattled off four frames on the spin, bagging the highest break of the tournament in the process, to claim the win.
