South Africa coach Peter De Villiers has sent for reinforcements prior to next weekend's clash with England at Twickenham.

Sharks duo Odwa Ndungane and Charl McLeod and Lions hooker Bandise Maku have been drafted in for the possible Grand Slam tour decider after Bjorn Basson and Chiliboy Ralepelle were sent home for failing drugs tests and Bryan Habana broke his hand in training.

"I called the players to let them know the good news and they're all really excited to be joining us," De Villiers said. "I considered calling them in this week but with all the other disruptions I thought it'd be better to focus as much as we could on what is a very important Test against Scotland. They can start with us fresh on Monday morning at the beginning of a new Test week."

Both Ndungane and Maku wore Springbok jerseys back in June, while scrum-half McLeod is celebrating a maiden call-up.

"Charl would have been added to the squad earlier but he suffered an ankle injury in the [Currie Cup] final and would not have been able to travel as an immediate replacement for Ricky Januarie," De Villiers said. "But we're delighted to be able to give him a chance to show us what he can do at the highest level."

South Africa also face the Barbarians at Twickenham on December 4.
