Saturday's Super Rugby Final between the Reds and the Crusaders has been declared a sell-out with 52,000 fans set to pack Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium.

It is the second full house the Reds have attracted this season with an Australian Super Rugby record crowd of 48,301 fans present to see the hosts squeeze home 17-16 against the Crusaders in Round 15 of the regular season. That game saw around 4000 stadium members and pre-sold seat holders fail to attend but a capacity crowd is expected to witness the game this weekend.

The final tickets were snapped up in 45 minutes on Wednesday morning and as a result the season finale is also set to break Australia's 104-year-old provincial record of 49,327 - set when New South Wales took on the All Blacks at the Sydney Cricket Ground on July 13, 1907.

The bumper crowd will also provide almost A$500,000 (£334,000) in extra revenue for the Queensland Rugby Union who have seen a major boost in crowds during the Reds run to the top of the table during the regular season and the top seeding for the play-offs.

Brisbane crowds are averaging 31,000 this season, up 30 per cent on last year, and a 60 per cent boost on the 2009 average of 18,646 when the Reds finished second last.
