The Stormers have claimed their second successive win of the Super Rugby season, and their biggest victory of the campaign, thrashing the Cheetahs in atrocious conditions at Newlands in Cape Town.

The hosts scored tries through Deon Fourie, Kobus van Wyk, Siya Kolisi and Sailosi Tagicakibau to build on their triumph over Western Force, while Kurt Coleman scored eight points with the boot and his replacement, Peter Grant, kicked a penalty and the conversion to Kolisi's try in heavy rain and swirling winds.

Pride alone was at stake at Newlands, with neither side in contention for the finals, but the Stormers showed far more than pride to move above the strangely toothless visitors on the log.

The form displayed by the Stormers certainly issues a warning to the ladder-leading Sharks, who must play their Cape Town-based rivals twice, home and away, in the final weeks of the regular season.
