Hantuchova leads seeds through

Daniela Hantuchova fought past Vania King 2-6 6-2 6-1 to reach the semi-finals of the Monterrey Open in Mexico along with two other seeds as the quarter-finals failed to produce any real upsets.
The favourites progressed, but not without significant battles in three of the matches, including second-seed Hantuchova's three-setter with American world No.74 King. Hantuchova could only land 39% of her first serves in a disastrous first set, bu her levels improved slightly and she started to take apart King's serve as she powered to a comeback win.
Third-seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova spent by far the least amount of time on court as she cruised to a 6-2 6-2 victory over Klara Zakopalova in just over an hour.
In contrast was fourth-seed Dominika Cibulkova's marathon two hour, 19 minute triumph over Agnes Szavay. The match featured ten breaks of serve as both players struggled to hold, with Cibulkova coming from behind to get up 3-6 6-3 6-3.
In-form Anastasija Sevastova, who knocked out Jelena Jankovic in the first round, completed the quarter-finals with her own James Cameron-length epic. She also trailed by a set before rallying to knock out Alize Cornet 2-6 7-5 6-1.
