Andy Murray will begin his US Open campaign as the No. 4 seed after organisers stuck with the ATP world rankings to formulate the list.

Murray, currently No. 4 in the world, is targeting a repeat of his 2008 run to the final at Flushing Meadows, when he lost to Roger Federer. Having won the Southern & Western Open in Cincinnati, the Brit enters next week's competition in fine form.

The seedings list means Murray cannot meet Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer until the semi-finals. Significantly, though, Djokovic begins the grand slam as the No. 1 seed having usurped Nadal in the rankings.

The draw for the men's singles takes place at 5pm BST on Thursday.
