John Isner capped his US Open preparations in style with victory over Julien Benneteau in the final of the Winston-Salem Open.

Isner, seeded 28 for the US Open, is one of the leading home hopes for the event and he will head to Flushing Meadows with a spring in his step following a 4-6 6-3 6-4 win.

Benneteau made a fine start to the match, dominating on serve and securing the solitary break of the Isner serve to lead 5-4 before holding out.

Isner responded by powering down six aces in a second set he dominated. The deciding set was tight, but it swung Isner's way when he broke to lead 3-2 and held firm to close out the match.

It is the second title in six weeks for Isner who won the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.
