Andy Murray has revealed he has made changes to his normal US Open habits in a bid to end his grand slam duck.

Murray normally stays at the same hotel when he is in New York, but having failed to reach the US Open quarter-finals the last two years, has broken out of his usual routine to avoid monotony.

"I've stayed at the same hotel for the last three years but I changed hotels, getting a slightly bigger room," Murray told Sky Sports News. "If you are here for three weeks, staying in the same room for three weeks in a hotel it is the same every single day.

"You want to make sure you can change it up a little bit and I'm staying in an area where there are quite a lot of nice restaurants rather than just one or two."

Murray kicks off his US Open bid against India's Somdev Devvarman on Wednesday on the back of victory in Cincinnati, but despite John McEnroe's claims that this is Murray's best opportunity to win a slam, the Scot insists recent poor results for the likes of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will count for nothing at Flushing Meadows.

"I don't think there is one week or one tournament that is better than the other, and he more than anyone knows in a sport like tennis it's who plays their best throughout the tournament and who plays their best on the day and that's what I need to make sure I do," he said.
