Leon Smith handed LTA promotion

Great Britain's Davis Cup captain Leon Smith has been promoted to the role of head of men's and women's tennis at the Lawn Tennis Association.
Smith, who became head of men's tennis last year, has seen his role expanded to incorporate the women, effectively making him head of performance. Smith takes over as head of women's tennis following the departure of Nigel Sears, who left to coach former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic.
"I am very fortunate to be working already with a fantastic team of coaches and player support staff, and my priority now will be to recruit a new head coach for women's tennis, as well as a new captain of the GB Fed Cup team," Smith said.
Greg Rusedski has also signed a new four-year deal with the LTA after guiding the boys' team to their first Junior Davis Cup title last week.
"I am confident we have a world-class team in place," said LTA chief executive Roger Draper. "The team has the balance of experienced international coaches working alongside young passionate British coaches which will provide the players with support and expertise to deliver long-term success at the top level."
