Keothavong reaches Barnstaple final

Anne Keothavong extended her excellent run of form to 13 victories in her last 16 matches by reaching the final of the AEGON GB Pro-Series tournament in Barnstaple on Friday.

Keothavong needed to defeat top seed Mona Barthel to advance to the final, and she got the job done in straight sets. Starting strongly, the 28-year-old out-returned her rival in the first set en route to a 6-3 7-6(6) victory.

"Super pleased to win today and be through to the final here in Barnstaple," Keothavong commented on Twitter.

World No. 91 Keothavong will now start as favourite in the weekend's final against Marta Domachowska, who ranks 109 places lower in the standings. However, there is a warning for the Brit, who lost against Domachowska last year.
