Petra Kvitova got the better of a titanic tussle with Caroline Wozniacki to help Czech Republic into the final of the Hopman Cup.

Danish star Wozniacki and Kvitova are the Nos. 1 and 2 in the world respectively and they lived up to their standings with a high-quality, high-octane battle.

It was Kvitova who came through, holding her nerve at the crucial moments, to win 7-6(4) 3-6 6-4 in two hours and 16 minutes.

With Kvitova seeing off Wozniacki, it was left for Tomas Berdych to wrap up the place in the final and he did so with little alarm - crushing Frederik Nielsen 6-1 6-3.

"It was a great match from both of us. I'm very happy I won," Kvitova said. "It was a small test before the Aussie Open. Caroline played very well. It's very good preparation to play here, to play three or four matches."

Czech Republic will meet France in the final in Perth on Saturday, with Kvitova facing Marion Bartoli and Berdych tackling Richard Gasquet.
