Roddick rolls back the years to reach Eastbourne final

Andy Roddick fully justified his decision to accept a wildcard for the AEGON International as he booked his place in the final at Eastbourne on Friday.

The former world No. 1, who has struggled for form of late, made a late decision to play at Devonshire Park after failing to win a match at Queen's last week. Having seen off a spirited fightback from Fabio Fognini to claim a 6-3 3-6 7-5 quarter-final win earlier on Friday, Roddick returned to the court for his semi-final.

And the American, drawn against Jamie Baker for the first round at Wimbledon, celebrated his 600th victory on the ATP Tour when when his opponent Steve Darcis retired with the sixth seed leading 6-3 3-1.

Roddick will meet third seed Andreas Seppi in the final after the Italian overcame Ryan Harrison in straight sets. After a late break saw him snatch the opening set, Seppi streaked away to a 7-5 6-1 victory.

Earlier on Friday, Darcis had seen off Marinko Matosevic, Harrison beat Denis Istomin, while third seed Seppi made it into the last four after Philipp Kohlschreiber's retirement.

In 's-Hertogenbosch David Ferrer booked his place in the final of the UNICEF Open, triumphing in a rain-disrupted contest with Benoit Paire. Ferrer dropped the second set, but recovered to claim a 7-6(5) 3-6 6-1 victory to set up a final clash with Philipp Petzschner, who defeated Xavier Malisse 7-5 7-5.
