Novak Djokovic will have to wait until Sunday to resume his US Open semi-final against David Ferrer after play was suspended at Flushing Meadows on Saturday.

The defending champion trailed 5-2 in the opening set when the players were taken off court and New York police ordered a stadium evacuation due to an impending tornado.

Djokovic and Ferrer will resume their semi-final at 11am local time (4pm BST) ahead of the women's final, which had already been shifted to Sunday.

For a fifth straight year, the men's final will be held on Monday. Britain's Andy Murray will have the benefit of an extra day's rest after he mastered the blustery conditions to secure a 5-7 6-2 6-1 7-6(7) victory over Tomas Berdych.
