Women's final postponed due to weather
The poor weather forecast in the New York area has prompted USTA officials to postpone the US Open women's final until Sunday.
The penultimate day of the tournament in known as Super Saturday, with two men's semi-finals preceding the women's final.
But the day began with monsoon-like weather and with the forecast being for more rain and high winds later in the day, the women's final between Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka has been put back.
A statement from the USTA read: "The weather forecast for this evening is calling for storms with heavy rain and high winds. Due to the severe weather forecast, session 25 featuring the women's singles final will be postponed until Sunday, September 9, 2012.
"We are continuing the day session as scheduled and will closely monitor the weather for the remainder of today's day session."
