Andy Murray insists he is over the worst following a series of out-of-sorts performances - although he is not guaranteeing a return to top form at the Monte Carlo Masters.

World No. 4 Murray took up a wildcard at Monte Carlo in a bid to improve his on-court fluency following successive premature exits in recent tournaments. The Scot crashed out of the BNP Paribas Open at the quarter-final stage, before a dismal second-round exit against Mardy Fish at the Sony Ericsson Open.

Murray concedes that he is not sure what prompted his form to plummet, but he insists that he has taken measures to ensure improvement. "You need to make sure you've got a clear head," he said. "I took four or five days after Miami, stayed there, practised and I feel a lot better than I did.

"I can't say 100% I'm going to be great this week but I feel fine. I have practised really well, a lot better than I have done the last month or so."

Murray is in second-round action at the Monte Carlo against world No. 33 Philipp Kohlschreiber on Wednesday. If he wins, he is on course to meet reigning champion Rafael Nadal in the semi-final for the second successive year.
