Andy Murray has opted to withdraw from the Swiss Indoors in Basel due to a back complaint.

Murray - who was seeded second for the tournament, which starts on Monday - will now have more time to recover ahead of a busy finale to the season.

A statement on the tournament's website said: "Late on Friday evening, news reached Switzerland from the ATP Tour's European headquarters in Monaco that Scotland's Andy Murray had been forced to withdraw from the Swiss Indoors Basel due to a back injury."

The BNP Paribas Masters in Paris kicks off on October 29, before the ATP World Tour Finals in London commences a week later.
