Djokovic plays down Grand Slam bid

Novak Djokovic will not target a clean sweep of the grand slams in 2013 after winning the Australian Open, insisting he focuses on each tournament as it comes.

The world No. 1, who won three of the four majors in 2011 and claimed his third consecutive title in Melbourne in January, is set to play his first ATP Tour event of the season at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, where he faces Serbian Davis Cup team-mate Viktor Troicki in the first round.

And Djokovic, a three-time winner in Dubai, refuses to break a successful habit and start setting goals for the rest of the season - particularly a first Grand Slam since Rod Laver's second single-season sweep in 1969.

"Any player who wins the Australian Open, the first grand slam of the year, has the possibility to win all four grand slams of the year, but it's a long way," Djokovic told ESPN.

"I really try to focus on Dubai now, what's coming up, the next challenge, take it step by step.

"It's that kind of mindset that took me to where I am at this moment, and I'll keep it that way."
